This is the thirteenth print in the series, but the twelfth in this album, illustrating the Story of King David and represents Jonathan and the boy retrieving arrows. The print was published in 1575 through the collaboration between Christopher Plantin and Philips Galle, and is dedicated to King Philip II. The inscription is by Benito Arias Montano, and the design is after Gerard van Groeningen, while the engraver remains anonymous.
The scene is associated with the virtue expressed in the upper margin: “Amicitiae verae usus” (The Benefits of True Friendship).
In the lower margin appears the inscription: “Praesidium firmum ... ipsa minas.” .
