This is the eleventh print in the series illustrating the Story of King David and represents David bringing the foreskin of the Philistines to Saul as his dowry. The print was published in 1575 through the collaboration between Christopher Plantin and Philips Galle, and is dedicated to King Philip II. The inscription is by Benito Arias Montano, and the design is after Gerard van Groeningen, while the engraver remains anonymous.
The scene is associated with the virtue expressed in the upper margin: “Virtutis Praemium” (The Reward of Virtue).
In the lower margin appears the inscription: “Emeritos tandem ... nobilitatque caput.”.
