This is the sixth print in the series illustrating the Story of King David and represents David slinging a stone at Goliath’s head. The print was published in 1575 through the collaboration between Christopher Plantin and Philips Galle, and is dedicated to King Philip II. The inscription is by Benito Arias Montano, and the design is after Gerard van Groeningen, while the engraver remains anonymous.
The scene is associated with the virtue expressed in the upper margin: “Fidei victoria” (The Victory of Faith). In the lower margin appears the inscription: “Mole gravi ... sed efficere.”.
