Title page of a series of printed illustrations engraved by Edmond Charpy and printed by Thomas de Leu, used to illustrate the book Passion del Hombre‑Dios: referida y ponderada en décimas españolas / por el maestro Iuan Dávila, written by the Madrid Jesuit Juan Bautista Dávila and published in Lyon in 1661 with the financial support of Horacio Boissat, Gorge Remeus, Claudio Bourgeat, and Miguel Lietard. Unlike the other prints in the series—reversed copies after inventions by Maerten de Vos and Jan van der Straet—this engraving is an entirely new composition, created specifically for the publication of the book.
At the centre of the composition appears the title of the work: Passion del Hombre‑Dios por el Maestro Iuan Davila. In the lower centre of the engraving, the place of publication is indicated: Leon de Francia, Lyon. On either side, two angels hold a multitude of objects associated with the Passion of Christ.
Handwritten annotations in ink are present along the upper and lower margins of the page; these were later crossed out with heavy scribbling, rendering the text illegible.
